‘Ronald Koeman is going with a striker who has zero experience with the Dutch national team’

Zian Flemming is currently in top form with Burnley in England. And according to analyst Leo Driessen, national team coach Ronald Koeman would be wise to include him in the squad for this summer’s World Cup in North America—Canada and Mexico.
“Flemming is in the prime of his career. If you can score eight goals even though you haven’t played every game due to an injury, you’re a top-notch player,” Driessen says on Voetbalpraat (ESPN). “Plus, he’s versatile. He’s currently a striker, but he can also play as a number 10 or a defensive midfielder. I’d take him to the World Cup.”
“Zian Flemming makes a strong impression”
“I’ve had the chance to watch Flemming a few times: he’s really come into his own,” said Driessen. Analyst Danny Koevermans agrees: “He’s become a highly regarded Premier League striker. Other teams are talking about him, too.” Driessen: “If you compare him to an Ajax striker, I’d know which one I’d choose.”
“Eight goals in the English Premier League”
The 27-year-old Flemming has already scored eight goals for Premier League relegation-threatened Burnley. He told Voetbal International: “Last season, guys were already asking why I wasn’t on the national team. I kept telling them that people in the Netherlands don’t watch the Championship. Now more and more teammates and staff members are coming up to me: ‘Why aren’t you on the team yet?’ That makes you start thinking about it yourself…”
