Robin van Persie is currently under intense pressure at Feyenoord. It therefore looks likely that he will leave the Rotterdam club this summer. The former star player has little credibility left.

The clashes with Justin Bijlow and Jurriën Timber drew a lot of criticism. Making new signing Sem Steijn captain, then stripping him of the armband and no longer selecting him for the starting lineup raised a lot of eyebrows.

“It seems Robin van Persie’s time at the club from the South is coming to an end”

A long list of injuries, a lack of a distinct playing style, and poor substitution decisions in both the Eredivisie and the Europa League: Van Persie’s time at Feyenoord seems to be coming to an end sooner rather than later. Who should succeed him starting next season?

“Is Danny Buijs Robin van Persie’s successor?”

Former coach Bert van Marwijk has the solution. In an interview with Voetbal International, the former coach of Feyenoord and the Dutch national team, among others, says that Danny Buijs is the man who should take charge at De Kuip.

“That move would make sense, given his background. Danny is from the region, knows the club, and understands the mentality better than anyone. A club like this has to be willing to take that chance, just as they did with me back then.” Van Marwijk also made the move from Fortuna Sittard to Feyenoord—will Buijs follow in his footsteps?
